Today I want to write about waking to a new day and a new year. I enjoy playing with words; thus I could have written “awaking” instead of simply waking; or I could have written the word “awakening.” I plan to write about awakening and awaking, but I want to lead with the physical act of waking on January 1st, 2013.
Early this morning I woke with a desire to write on this subject. I like to think that my spirit guide planted a seed in me through feeling and thought. Some people affirm that thoughts are first and then feelings follow. But I turn this around; I see that feelings are first, and then thoughts follow.
So I woke this morning with a feeling about the New Year 2013. After waking with this feeling I remained in bed giving thought to my feelings. It was not long before the thought emerged to write about this today in my Blog Journal. And so here I am.
Recently someone asked: “What is the source of your information?” It’s a great question, especially in relation to the subject of waking and awaking and awakening. For me, waking on January 1, 2013, immediately draws in the source of my process of waking up – namely, the Source of all – God.
I am a child of God, as you are, as we all are. As children of God we have the greatest source for our waking process. He wants us to be fully awake; His desire is that we wake up to the responsibility to complete the creation that He began with us. When we are awake to this primary desire of God, our physical act of waking up in the morning of the first day of the New Year takes on a very deep dimension.
What are you doing about this information? What did I do this morning? We are all different and our response is an individual thing. For me, it meant that I desired to renew my connection to the Source – to God. I am not yet fully awake, but I desire to be. And so I do certain things that help me in the course of my awakening. What do I do? My answer is that I pray; I pray to the Source. I set aside time to exercise my faith; I set aside time to pray – to pray directly to God, our Source.
We all need to do this – to pray. How we do it is an individual matter, but we need to do it; we need to pray.
When we pray God responds. He is already present, yet He waits for us to take steps toward Him (or Her if you prefer). His great love envelopes and surrounds us, but the thing is, do we feel this? Do we feel His love? It is one thing to say or to think that God loves us, but is it personal? Do you feel God? Prayer ignites within us the love that forever surrounds us.
Love, God’s love, His Divine Love, can be felt. If we will allow it, God’s love will come into us in waves of feeling. Love – the Divine Love – is a special feeling, and yet is much more than a feeling. This love will assist us to understand that the love that we feel from God has real substance; love will teach us that it is an ingredient within our soul transforming and changing us. Love flowing into our heart and soul is a process of completing the creation of our soul.
Waking on January 1, 2013, is awaking to our journey in the presence of unconditional love. Today I wake to the presence of love. Today I allow the Source of love – God – to enter my heart. Today I invite love’s presence to envelope me and flow into my life. Today I ask love to permeate my soul. Today I ask to be an open vessel where love – God’s Divine Love – can flow abundantly.
And when I wake on August 1, 2013 and on December 31, 2013 and on January 1, 2014, I will pray again the same prayer that I prayed today on January 1, 2013. It is up to me. Love – God’s Great Love – is waiting. It will never enter my soul of its own accord, nor will love ever be forced into my soul against my will. It’s up to me to allow it and to invite love’s presence to enter my heart and my life.
