Lately I find myself attracted to a place of solitude overlooking a small lake located in the forest. The Lake is located around 10 miles from my home; about a 20 minute drive. The one drawback is that solitude varies. During the weekend it is as busy place that attracts people of all ages. The earlier that you go it is better, and weekdays it is even better still. I have experienced a full hour without meeting another person on the trail that leads to my favorite place to meditate at the lake. If someone passing by says “Hello” or “Good morning,” I will respond. I love people and usually enjoy conversations that follow our initial greeting. Who knows; when I am deep in meditation or prayer a person might walk by and I would not even know it.
Do you mediate? Do you have a favorite or unusual place to go for your time in mediation? I read recently where a person wrote: “Mediate 20 minutes a day. If you are too busy to do this then meditate for one hour.”
