This meeting with the bishop kindled memories from many years ago when I was an ordained Presbyterian minister, and how in 1971 I journeyed with a group of friends who were clergymen from various churches. Together we traced our roots to the "origins" of our respective churches. We visited London, England and met with Anglican leaders, including the Archbishop of Canterbury. We traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, where we met with church leaders of the World Council of Churches, as well as leaders of the Lutheran Church, the Presbyterian Church and other churches. And we visited Rome with the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church. We met with the Pope, which of course was a memorable moment for the Roman Catholic priest in our group. And then we traveled to the Holy Land to visit various historic sites of both the Old and New Testament, and met with leaders of both the Jewish and Muslim Faiths.
Memories, fond memories! Thank you Bishop ___ for taking time to meet with me at the airport.
