NINE LETTERS TO LUKE
Visionary Fiction - A Story
What follows was first written in early 2004, revised and published in 2005 in a book of collected writings with the title Gentle River Flow.
Today is November 16th, 2012, and this story is now being made available in this website.
One of the subjects covered in these letters is the subject of change, and the story pictures a moment in time in 2004/2005 and the changes that were occurring in my life. Those changes were the background for the continuing change in the ensuing years leading up to today's date.
Introducing LETTERS TO LUKE
The idea for writing Letters to Luke was conceived when I had opportunity to meet with a friend of twenty years ago. His name is not Luke; I changed his name to provide privacy. The letters were created from a mixture of my lifelong interest in the subject of the origins of Christianity – and, of course, a fertile imagination. Though this is primarily visionary fiction, the content of many historical references certainly is not.
I have always been very curious as to the real reasons behind Rome’s persecution of the Gnostics. It has always seemed to me that the fervor of Rome far over-reached the actual facts, hiding something that was a threat to Rome’s existence. Letters to Luke is a good introduction to a vast and complicated subject.
I feel that we are living in very wonderful times, where old belief structures are crumbling and the hearts of people are opening to new possibilities.
What are some of the possibilities facing humanity today?
Many people say that there is an unprecedented shift in human consciousness unfolding in our day. Humans are becoming more aware of subtle changes in their feelings, perceptions and thoughts. The world is beginning to look different; even the earth is sending us messages through unusual weather patterns as well as increasing earthquake events.
The greatest change I see happening is the way many people are looking and listening to their own inner voices for answers.
Humans are looking to themselves differently today. We are not so dependent on external sources for our sense of self-identity. People are wakening to their own unique and special place in the universe. The authority of the individual is receiving more attention. Authority is shifting from outside to inside. For too long we have looked to this or that authority in order to define what we, as humans, are all about. For many men and women, this has usually meant the authority of this or that Church organization. Today you will find more and more people who are looking to themselves for their answers. This is as it should be – for I believe that each of us is a magnificent divine being, veiled in human form.
This is part of the purpose of Letters to Luke. It is about the original Jesus Story and the core message of Jesus. My feeling is that Jesus was killed because he believed and taught that men and women are extensions of God.
Read Letters to Luke and discover the core message of Jesus. My hope is that you will come to believe in yourself as the divine being that you really are.
